Hi, I'm Jiayi
You might want to know that I'm ...
a UX designer and researcher based in Sydney,
naturally organised and endlessly curious,
and I'm always open to an exciting challenge.

About Me
My creative journey began in childhood in China, where I collected everyday “treasures,” what others might call trash, and turned them into miniature creations. That early curiosity for making and problem-solving led me to study Industrial Design, where I learned to design with people at the centre. Today, those same principles guide my work in User Experience, where empathy and collaboration shape meaningful, inclusive experiences.
Through my time at a human-centred design consultancy, I have worked across industries including healthcare, government, finance, education, and technology, partnering with startups, large enterprises, and public sector clients. I have contributed to projects end-to-end, from planning and conducting research to UX design, prototyping, usability testing, and workshop facilitation.
Collaborating closely with developers and product owners in fast-paced, agile environments has strengthened my ability to adapt, navigate complex stakeholder needs, and iterate effectively. I am passionate about bringing people along the journey, making sure diverse voices are heard and reflected in the design. Whether working with a startup or a government department, I bring a human-centred approach to solving complex problems and creating experiences ready for the future.
